Bach, Bagels, and Bob - Bringing New/Old Music to Life
Maestro Robert W. Butts welcomes special guests soprano Timothy Maureen Cole and Dr. Jude Pfister, author and Chief of Cultural Resources at Washington Headquarters, Morristown National Historical Park.
Maestro Butts and guests will discuss bringing unknown music to life - ranging from brand new premiere compositions to the incredible discovery of the 1693 manuscript of La Giuditta by Baroque composer Alessandro Scarlatti. Dr, Pfister will also discuss the major documents and manuscripts of the collection. Maestro Butts will discuss the memorable collaborative concerts "Music and Manuscripts" which have featured music associated with documents in the collection - including Scarlatti''s major masterpiece as well as the signed copy of the published book of poetry by 18th Century African-American poet Phyllis Wheatley.
Excerpts from performances will be shown.
The event is a free online zoom event, but registration is required.
