Thanks to Our Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty Colleagues

"Refugee" staff Kathy, Danelle, and Lee hold their "discharge papers" signed by George Washington.

Morristown would like to extend our warmest thanks to our colleagues Katherine Craine, Lee Fahley, and Danelle Simonelli!

Hurricane Sandy left a big mess last October, but it also brought Morristown some super team players. Sandy devastated Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, leaving extensive damage and displacing park staff. With their parks closed indefinitely, park employees were redistributed on temporary details in the region. The silver lining in all of this mess was that Morristown had the pleasure of working with Kathy, Lee, and Danelle.

In addition to their interpretive work, these folks worked on special projects. They leave behind some very useful park resources.

Education Specialist, Kathy Craine, completed extensive work on Morristown's beta education portal. This update, which launches in the fall, will enhance teacher/student access to classroom resources.

Park Guide, Lee Fahley, is finishing up work on the Ford family genealogy. He has assembled a comprehensive binder which includes Ford family histories, genealogy charts, and cemetery records, among other records.

Park Ranger, Danelle Simonelli, created a detailed Ford Mansion Guard roster. Her project included close research of muster rolls, diaries, and pension records.

Thanks again for your friendship and hard work! We wish you luck as your parks reopen!

The Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island will reopen to the public on July 4, 2013. Ellis Island remains closed until further notice. Click for --> Ellis Info/Statue Info
